What is going on with the Mavic 2 pro?
DJI has discontinued the Mavic 2 pro in order to get ready for the launch of the Mavic 3 pro. DJI has a history of leaking their new releases, so it is very likely that the drone will be released by the end of October/November - before the holiday season. Until the Mavic 3 pro is officially released, we are recommending new Scanifly users purchase an Autel EVO II Pro 6k since it is widely available and has nearly identical features to the Mavic 2 pro.
The drone we recommend most for residential and commercial sites for Scanifly is:
- Autel EVO II Pro 6k
The Autel EVO II Pro 6k is an extremely capable drone that may not have the brand recognition of DJI but has the same quality and feature set. At this time we are recommending this drone because of its ability to do point of interest flights easily. It also has an integrated Mission planning mode that allows for larger grid flights to be flown within the default app for the drone.
To find an option to purchase this drone please check out this page: https://auteldrones.com/pages/evo-ii-authorized-dealers
While Scanifly can support a drone with zooming capabilities, any drone image that has been zoomed will not create a useful 3D model. As such, we do not recommend these drones. Scanifly also does not support cameras with fish eye lenses.
Due to limited availability, the drones we recommend next for residential and commercial sites for Scanifly are:
- Mavic Pro 2 or Mavic Pro 1
- Phantom Series (Phantom 4 Pro, Phantom 4, Phantom 3 Professional, Phantom 3 Advanced)
Due to limited availability and more dated hardware, the drones we recommend last for residential and commercial sites for Scanifly are:
- Mavic Air 1 & 2
- Mavic Mini 1
- DJI Spark
Due to limited Point of interest / Orbit capabilities Scanifly does not recommend using these drones. If you already have one of these drone models, please contact [email protected] for support on how to best capture photos for Scanifly Modeling with one of these drone models.
- Mavic Air 2s
- Skydio 2
- Mavic Mini 2
- Inspire Series
- DJI Phantom 3 Standard
Note: The smaller diameter propellers on these models may result in unstable flight characteristics.
